About…

Michaela Conley, MA

Since the mid 90′s I have been the CEO and founder of HPCareer.Net, a business based on facilitating information sharing, long before the term “social media” was coined.  HPCareer.Net (Health Promotion Career Network) focuses on delivering  career opportunities real-time.  By putting the collective power to share into the hands of students, professionals and others, the network has grown to more than 15,000+ registered users who are not only keeping an eye out for their own career advancement but also for their own network of colleagues and associates making the 15k users just the first ripple in the virtual prospective candidate pool of industry centric connected professionals.

Partner Network

In 2000: HPCareer.Net began partnering with membership organizations, publishers and credentialing bodies both inside the United States and Internationally to support their members/ subscribers health promotion related career goals.

In 2009:  The recent economic downturn has given us the opportunity to create new services.   I now host weekly webinars on Health Promotion LIVE with nationally & internationally recognized experts on topics important to professionals in health promotion related fields.  These web events provide professionals the opportunity to participate in high quality professional development without the necessity and expense of travel.  Because we are committed to sharing information without barriers to anyone accessing it, all live events and recorded archives are free.

Entrepreneur, Trainer, Facilitator, Connector, Social Media Strategist,

FOB: Fear of Blogging

As part of the 2010 HEDIR Tech Week, I volunteered to talk about the value of blogging.  My presentation was scheduled for Thursday of Tech Week.  As I began pulling materials together, I decided goal would be to share basic information on the why and how to blog.   Following my talk, I  hope they will better understand the benefits of blogging and consider taking the next step towards the web 2.0 conversation.

Additional Assignment for those who wish to use this presentation to earn CHES continuing education contact hours, you’ll need to complete one of the following:

1. If you do not currently blog: Leave a comment here on your thoughts on the opportunities and/or challenges of blogging.

2. If you are currently blogging: Leave a comment here and include a link back to your blog and/or write a brief post on the opportunities and challenges of blogging.

Be sure to document which ever option you choose in the Additional Comments section of the webinar evaluation form.

Continuously amazed

So, I thought, maybe I’ll do a blog just for me.  Of course, then I thought who’d want to read it and what do I have to say.  I suppose nothing and everything.  What would other people think if they found out that here it am, on a Saturday night clicking around reading geeky posts and  finding really neat little do-hickys, plugins & widgets.  After reading Sandra Wendel’s post on looking back and looking forward, I began thinking way back into the mid 80 and my Commodore 64 computer.  Isn’t it funny that still finding something new that does something really neat is so gratifying.  I know you’re laughing and rolling your eyes.  I’m going to hit publish now and step away from the computer before I decide to hit delete to keep my geeky secret all to myself.
